STUDENTS DISCIPLINE POLICY
It is wonderful to have the seniors back in the Learning Centre. Week 1 had a focus on welcoming everyone back, integrating our Year 12 and 13's into our work from HeadStart and setting goals for the year ahead. Our awesome SLT shouted Iced Chocolate and Coffee to welcome everyone back and we kicked off Extended Homeroom with team building games to inject some fun into our week.
Transitioning back into their learning, our Year 7 and 8 students have spent time reviewing some of the topics covered during Headstart. We had lots of fun revisiting the sentences we learned through games and activities using the Write That Essay hands-on resources. These sentences empower students to use them with a specific function in mind, elevating their writing to a higher standard. Asking your child to give an example and explain the function of an -ing start sentence is a great way to test their understanding.
On the 29th of January we welcomed our 5 new year three's to our campus. They are settling in well and we are glad to have them as members of our wonderful school. A big warm welcome to Olivia, Emma, Reba, Willow and Calder.
It is my pleasure to introduce Mr Hamish Dudley to the Gisborne team. Hamish joins the Secondary teaching team as a Maths specialist with wonderful credentials, including Level 3 Calculus. Along with his wonderful skill set in Maths, Mr Dudley brings a sporting background having previously held the position of President at his local Squash Club. This presents a wonderful opportunity for our senior boys to get a fresh approach to Core PE.
Mr Dudley has had a successful induction period over the last three weeks, proving he will be an excellent addition to our already high performing professional team. Welcome, Hamish.
A big welcome to Dianne Spicer who has joined us as our Student Support Assistant. Dianne has many years of experience in this role, including time in my own classrooms previously. We are lucky to have Dianne join the team as she brings a wonderful enthusiasm and energy to her role with an expert ability to build relationships and support students with specific skills they need to develop to move forward academically. Dianne will be working across both our Primary and Secondary school throughout the year. Welcome, Dianne.
Student Driver / Rider Policy
PURPOSE
It is expected that students will normally travel to and from school using school provided transport, or where
this is not available, in private vehicles under the supervision of a responsible adult. However, this policy
aims to clarify what measures must be implemented for the safe transportation of students if the Campus
Management decides to permit the riding of bicycles, e-scooters and e-skateboards, or for students to drive,
or be driven by a student, to or from the Campus.

Please be aware that all students Year 3-13 will require a OneSchool Global branded school bag from the start of 2025.
