UPDATE FROM THE 7 - 8

Tonui Collab Robotics Session

 On Wednesday the 13th of August, the 7&8 class went to Tonui Collab to participate in a workshop on robotics, relating to how our ancestors transported and traded their goods. When we arrived, the students were tasked with a challenge to work in pairs to create a tower from an assortment of construction blocks. It didn't matter how they made it, as long as it could stand on its own and not fall over. Next, they moved on to driving and learning how to use the Sphero. These were small remote controlled 3D balls. Finally the last task was given - to come up with and create a trailer that the Sphero could pull to transfer goods like kumara, potatoes, and fish. There were many different designs, like ones with compartments, shelves, seats, and even several sets of wheels! A lot of creativity and problem solving was used in this challenge, and it was great to see everyone so involved and interested.
